STOP THE BNP was set up to counter racism and fascism in elections and beyond. Over the past few years the British National Party has seriously contested council elections all over the country and achieved 50 councillors at district/borough level after the May 2007 local elections. Although the total has fallen since then, the BNP is planning a strong campaign for May 2008 and poses a risk in several wards as well as in the London Assembly election. At Searchlight we want to make sure that people know the full story about who the BNP are and what they really stand for. The Stop the BNP website aims to do just that, serving the anti-fascist movement and providing up to date news, good practice and analysis.

Across the country BNP organisers and officials are resigning their positions in protest at the sacking of Kenny Smith and Sadie Graham. As the rebellion has grown so have the political stakes. By siding with Mark Collett, John Walker and David Hannam, Nick Griffin's leadership of the party is now the focus of the revolt.
